BrahMos Aerospace, the manufacturer of cruise missiles, has become the first Indian firm to declare job reservations for Agniveers, the new enlistees under the Agnipath scheme of the Indian armed forces.
As part of this effort, BrahMos Aerospace, a government-owned Indo-Russian joint venture, will allocate at least 15 percent of technical and general administration positions across its various work centers for Agniveers.
Moreover, the company will ensure that a minimum of 50 percent of openings for security and administrative roles at outsourced work centers will be filled by Agniveers, as stated in an official announcement.
Furthermore, BrahMos Aerospace intends to hire Agniveers for no less than 15 percent of contractual positions through third-party staffing, based on their skills and qualifications.
BrahMos is also urging its industry collaborators to implement a similar strategy by hiring at least 15 percent of Agniveers for suitable positions in their organizations, the announcement indicated, emphasizing that this initiative represents a dedication to aiding Agniveers in their transition to civilian life.

The Agnipath scheme, introduced to enlist young people into the armed forces for a limited period, aims to modernize and strengthen the capabilities of the Indian military.
Prior to BrahMos, all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) had already declared job reservations for Agniveers.
The Opposition, led by the Congress, has been protesting against the Agnipath scheme and has been calling for its cancellation, arguing that it will only worsen the unemployment crisis in the nation.
Under the Agnipath Scheme, which was initiated in June 2022 as part of defense modernization, young individuals are recruited for four years, and they are referred to as ‘agniveers.’ After four years of service, 25 percent of agniveers will be retained, while the remainder will be released.
