Big and surprising change in China, WhatsApp and Threads removed from Play Store,

There has been a big and surprising change in Apple’s App Store in China. Actually, Meta owned WhatsApp and Thread have been removed from the Play Store. He has taken this decision citing national security concerns. The top internet regulator, Cyberspace Administration of China has taken this decision. In response Apple stressed its commitment to comply with local laws in the countries where it operates, even if there is disagreement. According to a report by news agency Reuters, WhatsApp and Threads have been removed from the Apple App Store in China. It is surprising that the country’s Internet regulator has declared both the apps a threat to national security. Following this change, the tech giant clarified that this removal only applies to China, while the apps will remain available for download in other regions.

China has been strict with foreign developers in the past also. Where accessing many foreign apps and platforms is prohibited without the use of a virtual private network. Despite this, savvy users often find other ways to access restricted platforms through Apple’s App Store.

China is an important market for Apple, although issues such as censorship and national security have continued to challenge its operations there. It is also being said that the reason behind the removal of both the apps is the ongoing tension between Beijing and Washington.
